Various nipple types can be used for layers, such as nipples with a 180° movable pin as well as a 360° side-action pin. It is important that the water supply from the nipple is enough but not too much when activated by the layers. The following table indicates the number of layers per specific nipple, subdivided in free-range layers and those in traditional cages. The exact number of birds can vary due to local climate conditions and/or regulations.
